Which Party really promoted China?

I have heard and read republican talking points blasting at President Obama hosting the President of China. Even to the point of criticizing his daughter's practice of the language.

Further points are at the inhuman practices of China. I wonder if a list of inhuman practices during the tenure of the past Republican Presidents which have helped promote China to the world trade since President Nixon would be beneficial as there are many more years of it during the past Republican Presidents since Nixon.

Here are just some items about the elevation of China to a world trade standing and helping to promote the "one world order" philosophy.

David Kernell guilty on Palin Email hack.

I feel sorry for David, he seems more like what was a happy college student, that thought that messing around with the Palin email as a big joke. I doubt he ever thought of it as a specific "attack" against her or even really a "hack".

"David C. Kernell, 22, was convicted on federal charges of destroying records to hamper a federal investigation and unlawfully obtaining information from a protected computer but was acquitted of wire fraud. A mistrial was declared on an identity theft charge.

U.S. District Judge Thomas W. Phillips said he would set a sentencing date after prosecutors decide whether to retry Kernell on the identity theft charge, the Knoxville News-Sentinel reported."

Did you know that on the Tennessee.gov website that you can find the scores of your favorite restaurant?

About the Scoring System:
The Department of Health is responsible for regulation of food service establishments in Tennessee. State law, regulations, and the inspection program are designed to help ensure that food service establishments are safe places to eat. The law requires that restaurants have an unannounced inspection at least once every six months to determine if they are in compliance with applicable rules and regulations at the time of inspection. In addition to routine inspections, unannounced inspections are conducted in response to individual complaints.

Tennessee uses a 44 item inspection sheet with a maximum of 100 points. Thirteen of the items are considered critical. Critical items, found out of compliance, must be corrected within ten days. Follow-up inspections are conducted to determine compliance on critical items. Failure to correct critical violations or imminent health hazards result in closure of establishments until corrections are made. Serious or repeated violations may result in revocation of the establishment's permit.

Scores shown on this web site dated prior to April 9, 1998 do not include follow-up inspection scores. Those scores are from the original inspection and do not note any follow-up corrective action. Inspection scores after that date are either from the original inspection if no-follow up was required or are scores that resulted from follow-up inspections where points have been added to credit establishments for corrective action. An individual restaurant inspection score is a "snapshot" of the condition of the establishment at the time of inspection. A single inspection score is not necessarily indicative of the inspection history of the facility. The scores are used as a tool by the State and industry to place a value on compliance to the regulations, educate the operators, and thereby encourage corrective action.

The Department of Health is responsible for inspecting restaurants and other food services establishments, while the Department of Agriculture is responsible for inspecting grocery stores and convenience markets that sell food products. Compliance officers from the department’s Food & Dairy section look at standards in food storage, handling and disposal; employee hygiene; facilities maintenance and many other areas to determine a store’s rating. I visited the Iris Garden at West St. and Park, in Germantown today. For years, I have wanted to stop and get a close up view of all the very beautiful Irises that have been so lovingly planted there. The West Tennessee Iris Society can take all the credit for the lovely scene hundreds of drivers see everyday while the Irises are in full bloom. A quaint stop, a resting place complete with benches with beautiful Breaded Irises of all colors. Don’t do what I did and drive by, all the while wanting to stop. Take a few minutes, and do it. I believe you will be glad. I am, and I plan to do it again, soon.

Bartlett TN has a new Library

I was looking for some Microsoft Office 2003 software how to books. To my dismay, after checking the library closest to where I live and the main library, it seemed that the Bartlett Library was where they would be, (computer books). I was wondering if Bartlett residence owned more computers per home or something.

Since moving to W.TN, the Library here has been one big disappointment. Extremely lacking to say the least. I was a bit surprised to see that Bartlett has a NEW Library. The surprise comes after just a few months ago, reading that Mayor Henrenton of Memphis had proposed to close several Library locations, yet Bartlett, part of the system has a new Library.

Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton wants to close five of 19 branches of the Memphis Public Library and Information Center, telling the City Council that the move—along with closings of four community centers—would save $1.5 million to $2 million a year. It's all part of a "repositioning of city assets" requiring more "hard decisions," Herenton said, according to the Commercial Appeal.

The announcement, on top of Herenton’s previous decision to appoint two nonlibrarians at the helm of the library, drew a firestorm of criticism in online comments and likely will engender debate before approval by City Council. The newspaper editorialized that, while “Herenton described the buildings as underused, deteriorating assets,” in nearly every case, they are neighborhood anchors. Some online commenters suggested that the announced closures were aimed to generate support for a tax increase.

The new Bartlett library was easy to find and I did find a couple of books to review. It is all fresh inside, the new smell overwhelming, if you have allergies to new carpets and smells, I wouldn't visit anytime soon. However, everyone was nice and helpful. I picked up a paper flyer called "Come in & Read". Inside, is a quote from Bartlett Mayor A. Keith McDonald: "If a community is going to thrive, the public in that municipality has to continue to hone its skills, and that requries education. And the library is the best tool for continuing education and using people's minds."

TN Library Association doesn't seem to think too much of Mayor Herenton's choice of NON-Librarian leaders. Seems to be a political move, rather than a wise one.

TN Library Association Criticizes Memphis Mayor for Hiring Nonlibrarian Leaders

In an open letter to Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton, the Tennessee Library Association (TLA) called his recent dismissal of longtime Memphis Public Library and Information Center Director Judith Drescher “a slap in the face” to library staff, given that “two political appointees, without any library science or library technology education, without any professional experience in libraries, without any experience in managing library staff,” are now heading a library which “gained a national reputation as one of the best in the country under Judith Drescher’s leadership.” The TLA criticized the mayor's failure to conduct a national search for Drescher’s replacement.

Eyebrows were raised in December when the seemingly sudden retirement of Drescher and two colleagues was announced. After all, Drescher had just led the library to win a National Medal of Museum and Library Service, awarded by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), in part for such innovations as the establishment of a 2-1-1 call center for community information. Herenton appointed as director Keenon McCloy, the city's director of public services and neighborhoods. Then the mayor appointed Michael Gray, a retired deputy director in public services and neighborhoods and former mayoral bodyguard, as deputy director. McCloy, not Drescher, attended the mid-January ceremony in which First Lady Laura Bush presented the IMLS award.

United States Attorney David Kustoff said the government got what it wanted in the John Ford trial.
"The bottom line is, as of today John Ford is a convicted felon," said Kustoff at a news conference in the federal building.

Jurors found Ford guilty of bribery, which carries a maximum sentence of ten years in prison. The former senator was found not guilty on three counts of threatening undercover FBI agent L. C. McNiel and undercover informant Tim Willis, but Kustoff shrugged off a suggestion that the jury found them to not be credible witnesses.

"Experts are gathering outside Washington, D.C. today for a two-day meeting to collectively scratch their heads about the Colony Collapse Disorder, aka 'Where have all the honeybees gone.'"

The phenomenon was first noticed late last year in the United States, where honeybees are used to pollinate $15 billion worth of fruits, nuts and other crops annually. Disappearing bees have also been reported in Europe and Brazil.

Commercial beekeepers would set their bees near a crop field as usual and come back in two or three weeks to find the hives bereft of foraging worker bees, with only the queen and the immature insects remaining. Whatever worker bees survived were often too weak to perform their tasks.

Kasparov, who was among at least 170 people detained during a march organised by opposition coalition Other Russia, appeared briefly outside a central Moscow court after being charged with public order offences during the banned protest.

"Today the regime showed its true colours, its true face," said Kasparov, who turned 44 on Friday, and is one of the leaders of Other Russia.

Shelby county is in dire need from a lack of Ambulances. With only six for the incorporated areas including Germantown and Collierville, the service is desparate.

I came across another story in this case it is about patient dumping. I don't know how our fellow americans can participate in this. I don't know how a hospital can participate in this.

Shelby county residents did you know that there are 6 ambulances to cover all of the unincorprated areas of Shelby county, including Germantown and Collierville.I want you all to think about that!
What has the Mayor and Shelby County Council been doing? Do they value life at all? There have been many recent issues with long waits for ambulances, even possible deaths because of long waits.Do you accept that as the best Sheby county residents deserve?

Please I implore you to write the Commercial Appeal, all the local and state politicians, tell your friends, family, co-workers, and everyone you can think of. Let's push for some real solutions, enough of the baloney!

"The aim of our program is to teach chess players of any age and any level. In our teaching, we seek to maintain the highest standards of professionalism. We look forward to helping our students by sharing love for the game with them."

Lessons include:

Basic strategy.
Opening preparation.
The basics of the endgame.
Tactical training.
Training games with further analysis.

There are many internationally recognized instructors that have been in Memphis for past Mid-South Chess Camps. The coming February schedule looks like it will be with Grandmaster Stripunsky, Womens Grandmaster Jennifer Shahade, and local Memphian Fide Master Jake Kleiman.

Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund!

What a great thing to help our wounded troops! There really are no good words to write to describe the hurting that our soldiers, and their families suffer. The care that the wounded will need when they return to the United States will last for a long time and will continue to grow as long as there are any soldiers there.

This morning while briefly listening to the "IMUS IN THE MORNING" show he was on location in San Antonio, Texas at the opening of the Center for the Intrepid. It is a new state of the art facility to help with the long recovery for the injured.

"The Center will serve military personnel who have been catastrophically disabled in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Center will also serve military personnel and veterans severely injured in other operations and in the normal performance of their duties, combat and non-combat related.
The Center encompasses a 60,000 square foot structure, providing ample space and facilities for the rehabilitation needs of the patients and their caregivers. It is constructed on a site sufficient in size to meet the needs of patients and caregivers and will include top-of-the-line indoor and outdoor facilities.
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund has successfully reached its goal of $40 million for constructing the Center. We thank the over 600,000 who contributed to this effort with gifts large and small."

The fund has helped many, but the work will have to continue.

I wanted to get started on a general blog, somewhere to just put ideas out there. Some maybe just the right thing, some maybe from way out there and only a few will be interested. Most of all, I hope to talk about things in a civilized fashion. It is a terrible thing to be a new commentator on a blog, and have everyone jumping in at you like a pack of wild animals.

It can surely make you wonder if we are human at all. It can make you wonder why people are afraid of a few words. After all, they are only written words!

Why do so many want freedom of speech, yet don't want to listen to another person speak if they disagree?

Well, be prepared for some out there ideas, and some things you may or may not like.
